My Story:
I believe that everyone has the ability to learn, change, and grow. Recovery is possible, and I would love the opportunity to help you reach your goals through my counseling services. As a graduate of Washburn University, I have been practicing as a Social Worker for over 15 years. My experience encompasses working with diverse populations in various settings, including community mental health, emergency departments, and outpatient treatment, where I provide mental health therapy and substance use therapy.
I utilize a strengths-based approach and will work with you to identify your strengths to overcome the challenges you are currently facing.
“Life happens,” and with the necessary tools, you will build your confidence and ability to handle all of life’s many challenges. I have an extensive background working with adults experiencing anxiety, depression, dual diagnosis, gambling issues, mood management, relapse prevention, and stress management.

Please note Christy is under licensure supervision with Cindy Claxton, KS LSCSW 3999, KS KCGC-I to obtain her Kansas Licensed Specialist Clinical Social Worker and her Kansas Certified Gambling Counselor I. She will work towards these goals over the next 2 years with expected full license/certification by the summer of 2026. Christy comes to Your Next Right Step with a wealth of knowledge and a genuine passion for providing therapy services, including mental health therapy and substance use therapy.
