Wendy Dodd, Licensed Masters of Social Work (LMSW), is a compassionate and dedicated therapist committed to helping individuals navigate life’s challenges and find healing. Wendy earned her Master’s in Social Work from the University of Kansas in May 2015, following her Bachelor’s degree in Intercultural Studies from Oklahoma Wesleyan University.
With specialized training in Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), Wendy utilizes a diverse range of therapeutic modalities, including art therapy and Internal Family Systems (IFS)-informed care. Her approach is strengths-based and solution-focused, emphasizing empowerment and growth in her clients. Wendy is deeply committed to fostering compassion and understanding, recognizing the variety of experiences and backgrounds each individual brings to the therapeutic space.
Wendy specializes in trauma recovery, helping individuals process past experiences so they no longer interfere with daily life. She also works with clients who have endured abuse, neglect, dissociation, domestic violence, generalized anxiety, depression, and much more. Wendy’s experience spans working with individuals aged 4 to 67, tailoring her methods to meet the unique needs of each client.
Before transitioning to counseling, Wendy spent 13 years in the field of child welfare. There, she witnessed firsthand the challenges faced by families and individuals within the foster care system. This experience deepened her belief in the power of human connection and the profound impact of having just one supportive person in someone’s corner. Her dedication to reducing the number of families experiencing foster care inspired her to become a therapist.
Wendy is inspired by the quote, “There comes a point where we need to stop just pulling people out of the river. We need to go upstream and find out why they’re falling in.” This philosophy guides her mission to address root causes and create meaningful change.
When working with Wendy, clients can expect a warm, collaborative, and personalized approach. She strives to create a safe space where individuals feel seen, heard, and supported on their journey toward healing and growth.
In her spare time, Wendy enjoys reading, playing games, and traveling. She has visited nine countries and continues to explore new destinations to ensure she does not become too comfortable. These experiences enrich her understanding of diverse perspectives, further informing her empathetic approach to therapy.
